Leslieville residents protested outside their apartment building over the weekend. They are being forced out of their homes so the landlord can renovate and raise the price of rent. This is known as “renoviction”. One Toronto councillor says “its time to change the rules to stop landlords from getting away with this.” Tenants are terrified and some of them even checking every morning for an eviction notice! Some tenants opted for the buy out while others have no intention of leaving after living there for almost a decade.
